School must be a safe place

[Translate to Englisch:]
Angelika Lonnemann

There is hardly anything worse than when parents must experience suffering being done to their children. We want safe places for our children where they can grow up happily and freely, where they can develop and become independent accompanied by benevolent adults.

At the same time, wherever people are together, there is not only harmony and goodwill, but also disappointment and hurt, sadness or anger. Sometimes unpleasant power relationships arise that can lead to abuse. Abuse can take many forms, including covert forms, and it is important that all those who work with children engage themselves with it.

To make this even more successful, all Waldorf schools in Germany have committed themselves to setting up protection concepts, which define how the school avoids violence through a code of conduct on the one hand and how it responds professionally and quickly in cases of violence with an emergency plan on the other.

I wish you a stimulating read and a summery June!
