We are not alone in facing this challenge; state institutions are also recruiting career changers and are even considering obliging part-time teachers to work full-time. For us Waldorf schools, however, there is the added complication that our teachers need special training — and they can only do this at certain Waldorf universities and colleges. In this issue, we would like to draw attention to the campaign developed by the Public Relations Department of the Bund der Freien Waldorfschulen and explain how each and every one of us can contribute to finding new Waldorf teachers. Experience shows that it is often parents who are so enthusiastic about their children's school that they decide to become Waldorf teachers themselves. Please join in and talk to friends, relatives and colleagues about a profession that fulfills many people because it allows them to find their own way to convey the beauty of the world to children more than anywhere else, as the young Waldorf teacher Max put it for the campaign.
In this issue of Erziehungskunst, you can also read about how a ninth grader transforms eurythmy performances into light in his annual project and why class eight play is so important in Waldorf education. My colleague Anne Brockmann spoke to media educator Edwin Hübner about his new book on Chat GPT and Renée Herrnkind explains the coaching class. There will be a new Waldorf podcast starting in March.
Speaking of new media: Erziehungskunst is now available as an app for your cell phone or tablet. Simply open the erziehungskunst.de website on your cell phone or tablet. After accepting the cookies, a dialog will open «To add this website to your home screen, tap the Share icon» and then «Add to home screen». The result is a new app button on your mobile device and this will take you to the erziehungskunst.de homepage, where we publish all articles from the magazine and other news from the Waldorf world online.
I wish you inspiring reading and a wonderful March and eagerly look forward to the awakening of nature from hibernation!
